Adelaide United have been held to a 1-1 draw by Super League team MetroStars.

The Reds used plenty of youngsters and trialists for the hit-out but found themselves a goal down when former Adelaide midfielder Michael Mattricciani lobbed Eugene Galekovic around the ten-minute mark.

In the second half, Brazilian star Alemao won a penalty after a nice run down the right flank and it was duly converted by Kristian Sarkies.

Coach Aurelio Vidmar chose to again rest a handful of important senior players including new signing Lloyd Owusu.

The Reds meet another Super League club, Raiders, next Tuesday.
