Adelaide and Gamba into ACL final

Adelaide United and Gamba Osaka will play off in the final of the Asian Champions League. After overcoming Bunyodkor/Kuruvchi in the semi-final, Adelaide finds themselves as the only Australian club to make the final which is a fantastic achievement by the club. Although they lost the second leg 1-0 away, a resounding 3-0 victory in the first leg at Hindmarsh Stadium was enough to see Aurelio Vidmar's side progress through to the two-legged final in a bid to make Australian football history. Speaking of the result, Vidmar said, "We knew Bunyodkor would come at us in this match but our boys were magnificent tonight and they ran their socks off. "I'm so proud of this team of players, to come to Tashkent and get the result is just unbelievable for our club. "When you consider the Eugene (number one goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic) wasn't 100 per cent, Paul Reid had an injury problem during the game and a couple of the guys weren't feeling he best, these guys were magnificent." Meanwhile, Gamba Osaka have knocked out last year's champions, fellow Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds 4-2 on aggregate after the first leg was a 1-1 draw in Osaka. The 3-1 victory was a remarkable one given that Gamba were 1-0 down at half-time and playing in front of 60,000 fanatical Urawa fans. The first leg of the ACL final is on November 5 in Osaka with the second leg to played in Adelaide on November 12.
