Emmanuel Adebayor insists he and fellow Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe can play together.

Having ­returned to fitness from a hamstring injury, Adebayor is now desperate to help Defoe continue his scoring form.

"I have a huge respect for Jermain Defoe," said ­Adebayor.

"I've told him that if I can come back and make him the top goalscorer in the League, then I am happy."
