Adebayor convinced Arsenal primed for Champions League glory

Emmanuel Adebayor says Arsenal are primed to win the Champions League this season.

The Togo star roared: "When I came to this club from Monaco in 2006, I was told by my friends and team-mates I had a great chance of winning something.

"But for the last three years I've gone on holiday having not won a trophy and with an empty heart. So now it is time to achieve things, starting with two games against Villarreal. We have to believe we can do it."

Adebayor was not eligible to play when Arsenal beat the Spaniards in the 2006 Champions League semi-final and added: "I will do everything I can to play in the last four of this competition.

"I was so disappointed when we went out to Liverpool in last year's quarter-finals.

"I could not bring myself to watch the semi-finals on TV. Everyone here has a real desire to win things and I don't know if I want it more than others.

"We know it will be very difficult against Villarreal. We are expecting a hard game and a great atmosphere this week."
