Adam Armstrong says he's prepared to wait for his chance at Newcastle United.
The striker was a second-half substitute for the derby defeat at Sunderland.
Armstrong told the Evening Chronicle: "I'm 18.
"I've got to be patient and my time will come. When I get that chance I've got to take it and be a man. Maybe he thinks with being so young JC doesn't want to chuck me in too early.
"I respect him so much for even putting me on though.
"I'm in and around the first team so it's good for me."
