Newcastle United star Achraf Lazaar is ready to return to the club for preseason.

The Moroccan international has only managed nine games for the Magpies in the past three years.

However, he has spent the summer working on his fitness and hopes he can impress the manager, whether it is Rafa Benitez or someone else.

The Chronicle says Lazaar has worked on his conditioning after spending the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

The left sided player was deemed surplus to requirements by Benitez two years ago.

He still has two years left on his contract and hopes to get a chance to impress during preseason.
