AC Milan owners Elliott Management are introducing a new wage ceiling for next season.
Gazzetta dello Sport says no new contracts will be offered for more than €1.5-2m - whether that be for current players, or potential new arrivals.
As such, the futures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gigio Donnarumma, Alessio Romagnoli and Hakan Calhanoglu are all in doubt as their current contracts fall out of the new cap and negotiations over new terms are due.
Donnarumma, particularly, is now in serious doubt as he was already discussing new terms with the club amid talk of interest from Juventus and PSG.
Club captain Romagnoli is also an issue, though his deal doesn't expire until 2022.
