AC Milan midfielder Jeremy Menez has been discussing his offer from Manchester United as a teenager.
The France international moved to Milan in the summer window after a struggling to cement a first-team spot at Paris Saint-Germain.
And Menez admits he had the chance to join the ranks at Old Trafford a year before moving to the Ligue 1 giants, but somewhat reluctantly turned down then-boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
"Saying no to Ferguson wasn't easy, but I was still young and I had to follow my own path," he said.
"Then when [Vincenzo] Montella came to Roma, it became difficult. Before he came, I was playing all the time, but he had different ideas.
"I was then a first-team regular at Paris Saint-Germain under Carlo Ancelotti, but Laurent Blanc came along and he dropped me.
"After an operation, I came back and scored, but nothing changed. I accepted his decision, even if it was hard," he added.
"It was a difficult year, but it helped me grow."
