AC Milan legend Maldini: Italian football lacks finances to compete

AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini admits Serie A clubs cannot compete in the world transfer market.

Maldini can't see how Italian clubs can compete at the highest level in the Champions League.

"There is no other way to reach that kind of level," the Italy and Milan hero told Reuters. "You have to invest money to compete with the great teams in Europe.

"Juventus are a great team, especially in Italy, but when you compete with a team like Bayern, you can see the difference.

"They need at least two or three more great players."
