AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan released from France squad

AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has returned to Italy after suffering a calf strain with France.

Maignan was forced off during the Nations League win against Austria.

The French Football Federation has confirmed the 27-year-old was sent back to Milan where doctors will assess his condition. He's been replaced by Steve Mandanda.

Maignan isn't the first Milan player dealing with injuries during the international break.

Fellow France player Theo Hernandez also returned to Italy without even training with his national team on Monday, while Sandro Tonali didn't train with Italy and won't be available for tonight's game with England.
