AC Milan fullback Ignazio Abate has apologised for his role in Inter Milan's derby winner on Sunday.
The right-back's individual error allowed the ball through to Diego Milito who was then able to ripple the net.
"However, the ball squirmed away from me and that was how the goal that decided the game was born.
"Perhaps I could have held my ground and then decided to take on Milito with my speed
"However, in that fraction of a second on the field of play, I did think that I could intercept the ball. I take full responsibility and I apologise to the fans.""I had the feeling that I could get to the ball," the defender told Sky Sport Italia.
