AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes was proud of his spectacular Champions League goal at Anderlecht last night.

It was similar to the goal Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently netted for Sweden against England.

"Nothing went through my mind. I gave it a go, it went well, but I will admit it was a bit lucky. Ibra is a phenomenon, I just gave it a go!" Mexes told Mediaset.

"For a defender to score a goal like that is unusual and I'd never got one like that before. My teammates asked if I was trying to provide a cross and got it wrong!

"I dedicate it to my family who have always supported me and my children, as it isn't easy for them to stay home with their Dad always travelling around."
