AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani admits new signing Marco van Ginkel took some persuading.
The Chelsea midfielder has joined Milan on a season-long loan.
Galliani revealed: "Van Ginkel resisted initially. It's not that he didn't want to join us - he just thought that he could get into the Chelsea team.
"But Mourinho is a great Coach, and told the lad that after an eight-month lay-off through injury, coming here would be good for him.
"I then asked [countryman Nigel] De Jong to speak to him, and Fernando Torres as well. Eventually he said yes."
