AC Milan boss Marco Giampaolo was satisfied with their 0-0 draw with Cesena.
It marked their final preseason friendly.
"Clearly we can't be very sharp right now, but we took that into account," Giampaolo told Sky Sport Italia.
“The game will give us indications to understand how we can improve and work better. We are particularly dependent on narrow margins that keep the balance and those are important above all for those who haven't had many training sessions.
“After all, I had one session with Rafael Leao, none with Ismael Bennacer, Leo Duarte had three. There are players who have quality, but don't know what's happening in the collective thought process because they arrived late, like Lucas Paqueta and Franck Kessie.
“When I said it'd take time, I meant it, because I knew it would be like this and I am not looking for short-cuts. If we want to play positive football in the opposition half, then we need to maintain it with a delicate balance.
“It's just a matter of time and working together, as so far I've only done that with a handful of players."
