AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted their 1-1 draw with Genoa was a setback.
"We played an excellent first half and pressured them high up the field, but this used up a lot of energy that we paid for at the end, when Genoa pushed us down the flanks," said Ancelotti.
"This is why I played a team with four midfielders, but the crosses were coming in anyway."
David Beckham's gem of a free kick gave the Rossoneri the lead, while Andrea Pirlo hit the woodwork twice, but Diego Milito netted the equaliser in the final minute.
"We were unable to win a match that we deserved to take all three points from. The regrets come from the fact the team is in good shape and yet still couldn't get the victory.
"The season continues, even if we have to chase. At least we have four more points now than we did compared to our first meetings with Bologna and Genoa."
