AC Milan are aiming to trump Juventus for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Juve have already approached Chelsea with an offer for the Serbia international. However, Milan are currently looking for a defender to act as cover for Alessandro Nesta in an ageing and injury-prone back line.

According to Sportmediaset, Milan are ready to move in with a bid of around £1.8m to take Ivanovic for the season with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
