Aberdeen manager Craig Brown insists the club will get due compensation if Chris Maguire leaves Pittodrie Stadium.
The impressive 22-year old striker is reportedly on the verge of joining English Championship club Derby County but Brown has made it clear that he will not be allowed to leave unless the Rams meet the £400,000 transfer fee the Dons have set.
"We did everything to persuade Chris to stay," said Brown in the Press and Journal. "I'm convinced it would have been the better option.
"But we will not accept anything less than we feel we're due. The compensation is non-negotiable.
"He can only sign for Derby if they agree to pay what Aberdeen are looking for."
