Aberdeen trial former Gretna defender

Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee has taken former Gretna left-back Evan Horwood, who left Carlisle at the end of the season, on trial. The 24-year-old, who made 17 appearances for Gretna during their season in the Scottish Premier League, has accepted Aberdeen's trial invitation.

Horwood was on loan at Gretna from Sheffield United and moved to Carlisle in January 2008 before being surprisingly released by the Cumbrian club after making 93 appearances.

Horwood joins former West Ham youth team midfielder Conor Okus on trial at Pittodrie but former Leeds goalkeeper Ryan Jones has returned to England.
