Aberdeen skipper admits they let the fans down

Aberdeen skipper Mark Kerr has conceded his side let down the fans in the 5-1 thrashing by Sigma Olomouc in their Europa League qualifier. "You feel the same way as the fans do," Kerr told RedTV.

"We have let them down for all the travelling and support they gave us last season to get into Europe.

"They will already have their flights booked for the second leg and I'm gutted for them. Believe me, we will be putting in a lot of hard work to try to get it right over the season."

Kerr admitted the tie is effectively over as a contest.

"I think it would be daft to say we can go there and qualify now," he said. "That is disappointing. Everything went wrong after they got the second goal.

"I knew the game was coming very quick for us but I felt our performance in the first half was decent but as the game went on we showed cracks and lost goals. Every time they went forward it seemed to end in a goal. I'm gutted and all the boys are the same.

"We have to go over there and try to salvage something from the tie. We need to get as much out of it as we can to get us ready for the start of the season against Celtic."
