Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass has confirmed Matty Longstaff has returned to Newcastle United.

Longstaff's season-long loan at Pittodrie has been ripped up after a difficult few months for the midfielder.

Glass said, "He has been taken back after the winter break in Scotland has been moved.

"They have taken him back. He has been injured for two to three weeks, but he has been taken back to Newcastle.

"They will probably use him."
