Egyptian midfielder Hosni Abd Rabou is believed to be at the centre of a battle between Middlesbrough and Portsmouth, who are both keen to secure his signature.

The 23-year-old, who currently plays for Ismaily in his homeland, scored four goals in The Pharaohs' African Cup of Nations triumph, thus alerting the two Premier League sides to his talents.

Abd Rou was named Player of the Tournament and Boro are now reportedly winning the race to sign him from the Egyptian outfit.

It is thought the opportunity to link up with fellow compatriot Mido is what is swinging Abd Rou's favour towards The Riverside.
