Aalesunds goalkeeper coach Frank Mathiesen insists Anders Lindegaard can make the grade at Manchester United.
Mathiesen has worked with Denmark's international keeper for the past two seasons and believes United's scouts and the Reds keeper coach Eric Steele have homed in on a player with the quality to make the grade in England.
"I know United have watched Anders several times and the club has all the skills to pick the right players. I would trust in that," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"I really think they've made the right choice. I think he has got the right character and temperament to cope. He will have to make adjustments but he has the strength of personality to do it.
"United won't be taking him now and placing right away in their first team goal. He will have plenty of chance to work and learn with the likes of Van der Sar and the goalkeeper coach at United. He can develop there.
"He's been progressing well for club and country and he is one who can continue that. I was really satisfied with his development in the two years I have worked with him. Going to United would be a major step up and it will be exciting to see how it goes.
"He has done very well in Norway but we all know it is an incredible step up to the Premier League."
Mathiesen added: "I like to call Anders a very up-to-date goalkeeper. He has all the skills you look for in a modern keeper.
"His distribution is very good. If he collects a cross then he can very easily start a move. It is a great weapon for any attacking team to have.
"Defenders know where they are with him. They can certainly rely on him. He is not going to surprise them. They know the occasions when he'll come for a cross and they'll know the times when he won't.
"Anders is also a good shot stopper. He protects his goal well and he will talk with his defence. He knows how to communicate.
"Weaknesses? I don't think he has any. He is a good all round goalkeeper. He can cope with pressure and he has an aura about him."
