Official release from Football Australia
Western Sydney Wanderers FC was today officially unveiled as the Hyundai A-League's newest club at a media launch at Parramatta Stadium.
The Wanderers' Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman and inaugural Head Coach Tony Popovic presented the club's first three player signings - western Sydney products, Aaron Mooy, Tarek Elrich and Kwabena Appiah-Kubi.
"Football's heartland will have its own team in the national competition.
"The sons and daughters of western Sydney's rich football heritage will get to represent their region on the national stage and beyond across Asia and the world.
"Even more important is that this club will be different - it will be powered by the proud people of the west."
Football Federation Australia CEO Ben Buckley added:
"On April 4, 2012 we announced that a new club representing Western Sydney would be competing in the Hyundai A-League and since that day a great deal of work has gone into building this club from the ground up.
"An immense effort has been made to engage the local community throughout the development process and we truly believe that Western Sydney Wanderers FC will be representative of the culture and values of the Western Sydney region.
"We look forward to their future announcements in the coming weeks and their first match of the Hyundai A-League season on 6 October and wish them the best for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season."

"On behalf of FFA, I congratulate Lyall Gorman, Tony Popovic and their team for their hard work getting to today's official announcement of the name, colour and crest of the new club," said Buckley.
