A-League review - Week 7

Week 7 of A-League action saw Adelaide United maintain their position on top of the table despite a draw with Brisbane Roar on Saturday night.

In a very entertaining affair at Suncorp Stadium, the Reds netted first through young gun Mathew Leckie who jumped to the top of the Golden Boot list with his fourth of the term in the 27th minute before German import Thomas Broich leveled seven minutes later. Adelaide kept a cushion of three points at the summit of the table whilst the Roar stayed fifth.

On Friday night, Michael Bridges and Labinot Haliti ensured Newcastle Jets got their first win of the season with a 2-0 result against Perth Glory at EnergyAustralia Stadium, pushing the Jets up to ninth with the Glory managing to remain third.

North Queensland Fury and Melbourne Victory played out a scoreless draw in Townsville which saw the home side drop to 10th and the Victory stay fourth whilst Melbourne Heart moved up to seventh with a solid 2-1 home win over Wellington Phoenix who remained in the top six.

And yesterday evening, Gold Coast United were unlucky not to break down the Central Coast Mariners in their goalless stalemate at Skilled Park which kept the home side eighth whilst the Mariners stayed second.
