A-League clubs turn down Figo, Tristan, Morientes

Robbie Fowler apart, A-League clubs have again turned down the chance to add major marquee names to the competition this season. Former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes, Inter Milan's Portuguese legend Luis Figo and recently released West Ham United striker Diego Tristan were all offered to A-League clubs this winter - and all were turned down.

Instead, Australia's sports fans are expected to flock to games for the Socceroos Mile Sterjovski, of Perth Glory, and Sydney FC's John Aloisi.
