A-League chief Archie Fraser has reportedly quit his role, stepping down due to the financial crisis surrounding A-League clubs.
The Scottish-born Fraser has been running the league for the past 12 months after a stint with AFL club St Kilda but has decided to step down, informing Football Federation Australia CEO Ben Buckley of his decision.
Fraser has been at the head of the recent takeover of troubled club North Queensland Fury and has also seen Gold Coast United owner Clive Palmer pull the pin leaving them in disarray.
Double that with the fact that Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United are experiencing financial difficulty and are both owned by FFA and it hasn't been a pretty tenure for Fraser.
It is believed that he will serve out notice as the league and FFA try desperately to keep things operational.
