Former Rayo Vallecano midfielder Santi Comesana is delighted with his move to Villarreal.
Comesana moves to Villarreal on a four-year contract.
He said: “I'm very happy because it's a great opportunity for me and I want to take advantage of it. I thank the club and the board for allowing me to make this leap in my career.
“Villarreal is a very important club in Spain. It's a team that finished fifth in LaLiga and fought for the Champions League until almost the last matchday. A couple of years ago they lifted the Europa League. When I have faced this team, I have always done so with respect. From the outside, you can see that they are a team capable of fighting for everything.
“My objective is to add to the team. To help when the coach thinks I can do it from the pitch and, from the outside, when I don't have the opportunity. I'm a team player. I know there are players of a very high level here and I also want to learn from them."
He also said: “I'm a player with a lot of running, defending and attacking. I try to defend a lot and I try to get into the opponent's box. I'm a box to box as they say in England. I can play both as a holding midfielder or a bit further forward, wherever (Quique) Setién thinks I can help the team the most.
“It will be a new experience for me. Everything here is new for me and I have to adapt and enjoy everything with enthusiasm."
