Real Betis coach Pellegrini pleased with Europa League progress after Zenit draw

Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini is happy to progress in the Europa League after their 0-0 draw with Zenit St Petersburg.

Betis reach the next round 3-2 on aggregate.

Pellegrini said, "I can't remember any clear goalscoring opportunity for them, nor Rui Silva having to make a save. They dominated a bit more with the ball and then we improved and had two against the post, from two corners, and then they had those two [attempts] at the end.

"Although we didn't try to play with the first-leg result in our heads, I think that subconsciously we had the handbrake on. The team did very well on the defensive side."

Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez also said: "It's very important what we're doing this season in all the competitions we're playing in. We've taken an important step. Now let's see who we get in the draw but we have to go step by step."
