An arrest has been made after former Newcastle United wing-back Jetro Willems was struck by a fan yesterday.
Turning out for SC Heerenveen in the derby against FC Groningen, Willems was struck by an opposition fan when speaking with supporters amid concerns of a pitch invasion.
The match was suspended for 15 minutes before resuming, with Willems okay and also speaking with the same Groningen fans at the final whistle.
The arrest of the young fan took place shortly after the match. A second man was arrested, also on suspicion of assault during or around the game.
