Villarreal coach Emery delighted with rout of Alaves; praises 2-goal Dia

Villarreal coach Unai Emery was delighted with their 5-2 rout of Alaves on Tuesday night.

Gerard Moreno and Boulaye Dia both scored braces in the win.

Emery said, “LaLiga is where we can be consistent and the main rewards to be a good team will come from there. The Champions League is something that's great, and the Copa del Rey excites us, but in 38 matchdays, that's where we need to show consistency. There have been moments of the season where we've lost it, but now we're in a run where the team is reacting well.

"It has coincided with Gerard's return from injury, through him we find goals and everything seems more fluid. We're still lower down than where we want to be, but with these wins, we feel more comfortable."

On Dia, Emery also said: “Each player has their role. Boulaye has had his adaptation process, and he has been a bit anxious to shoot in certain situations in front of goal. We missed him being calm and sometimes pausing to execute the final piece of play correctly, and today he was.

"In the dressing room, he's loved because of his humility and because he's fully implicated at all times."
