Thomas Vermaelen will miss Arsenal's preseason tour of Asia.
The Gunners skipper is battling a back problem and has revealed that he will not be available for any of the Far East fixtures.
"Unfortunately, due to a back injury I can't join my team mates on the Asia Tour the next few weeks," said the Belgian centre-back.
"I will be staying in London ... to receive the right treatment. Of course I will do my best to return on the pitch soon, and I will keep you posted on my progress."
During the Asian visit, Arsenal will meet an Indonesian Dream Team in Jakarta on Sunday, before taking on Vietnam in Hanoi on July 17, J.League club Nagoya Grampus on July 22 and fellow Japanese side Urawa Reds on July 26.
