Our top story this week came once again from Merseyside.

A big fallout prior to Liverpool's triumph over Roma in their Champions League semi-final last Wednesday was the departure of Jurgen Klopp's assistant, Zeljko Buvac.

And according to The Mirror, Klopp was furious that his friend and colleague for 17 yearshadn't informed him thatArsenal had made contact with him about replacing Arsene Wenger.

Talk of Buvac taking over at the Emirates has cooled in recent days. The longest shortlist ever.

Keylor Navas was impeccable during Real Madrid's semi-final.

How the Costa Rican deals with the persistent transfer rumours linking every world-class goalkeeper to the Bernabeu is beyond me.

But making light of the situation seems to be working just fine. Speaking after Los Blancos' 4-3 aggregate win over Bayern Munich, Navas joked with reporters: "They (Real) have already signed a new goalkeeper.

"I cut my hair, I'm a new goalkeeper. The captains have supported me at all times, when everything is fine and when everything goes wrong."

Navas' teammate Toni Kroos opened up on Real's Champions League final opponents, Liverpool.

The German was frank in his admission that Klopp's men had taken him by surprise with their run to Kiev.

But Kroos added that he and his teammates wouldn't underestimate the Merseyside club.

The protracted transfer of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Manchester United took another twist last week.

The Sun claimed United had come to an agreement with Lazio surrounding a fee for the Serbian, reported to be £80million.

The fee would be close to United's record deal for Paul Pogba two seasons ago. The Frenchman hasn't lived up to his price-tag yet. Will Milinkovic-Savic be different?

And finally, no wonder Chelsea fans wrapped themselves around a story about N'Golo Kante.

RMC have claimed Roman Abrahmovich is willing to sell the Frenchman to PSG - that is if the Ligue 1 champions fork out €100m.

The Blues could miss out on Champions League football next season. Would that be enough for Kante to force through a move?
