St Johnstone boss eager for May to remain

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is hopeful that Stevie May will remain with the club next season.

The 21-year old striker is contracted until next summer but is attracting plenty of interest from clubs in England after scoring 27 goals in all competitions this term.

The Saints meet Dundee United in the Scottish Cup final this weekend and Wright is confident that the young gun will commit himself to the Perth club after the Celtic Park clash.

"The positive thing from the club's point of view is that he wants to stay," Wright told Sky Sports.

"It's not like we are offering him a deal to stay, he actually wants to remain here. In any negotiations, the fact he's keen to stay at the club is a big help.

"This season has got better and better for him. He feels better playing regularly and playing in Scotland for at least another year, so hopefully we can get a deal sorted out after the cup final."
