REVEALED: Arsenal, Man Utd could've signed Upamecano for £1M

Arsenal and Manchester United both could've signed RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano for next-to-nothing five years ago.

The Mirror says Arsenal were set to pip United to the bargain £1m signing of Upamecano five years ago, just months before the superstar defender ended up joining RB Salzburg.

The France U21 star was making a name for himself in Valenciennes' youth team at the time popped up on the radar of both English sides in the January transfer window in 2015.

At the time, Arsenal manager of the time Arsene Wenger was well versed in bargain hunting future stars from around the world but he couldn't get the deal done.

RB Salzburg took him five months later for a reported fee of €2.2m.
