Ranieri happy to give Leicester fringe players opportunity

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri was pleased to have handed his fringe players an opportunity to prove their worth during the Capital One Cup clash in midweek.

Ranieri made 11 changes to his squad for the 4-1 league cup second round victory over Bury on Tuesday night and the Foxes boss is happy that his fringe players did not let him down.

Ranieri said: "I wanted to see all my players and I gave them a chance to show me what they can do. It was very important to rest and recover the 11 players from last week, but also to see what the other 11 could do. They did a very good job.

"They train well but I told them to show me in the match and I am very happy with the performance. Bury are a good team and the second half was a battle, but we showed good spirit. Today were concentrated and we won 4-1 but we created other chances. It is important to make progress in the cup."
