Ranieri full of pride after guiding Cagliari back into Serie A

Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri is full of pride guiding the club back into Serie A.

Cagliari won their promotion playoff second-leg against Bari last night, having finished the season fifth in Serie B.

Ranieri said in his post-match presser: "Cagliari gave me so much, it made me becoming a coach and it entered my heart. Coming back was a great unknown, I was afraid of not achieving the goal that the whole team wanted and asked of me.

"Defeat destroyed me inside, but we managed to reach the goal. When you play against a a very good team like Bari, you know and estimate that they can score you goals, but we were very careful unlike what we did at home. The draw was important because we could have lost 3-1 at home and I put the boys on this.

"This is one of the clubs that I put on top of those accomplished in my career. We are already in agreement with the sporting director and the president. I hope that the money that will be spent will be the right one and will bring results that had not arrived so far."
