Newcastle United midfielder Jeff Hendrick is on the outs at Sheffield Wednesday.
The 32-year-old has been omitted from Wednesday's 25-player Championship squad.
Hendrick, who is out of contract at Newcastle in the summer, is on a season-long loan at Wednesday.
However, the veteran has only managed 503 minutes and is surplus to requirements.
Wednesday manager Danny Rohl told The Star: "He [Hendrick] played some minutes in the cup which was good. There is learning also from my side that you have an FA Cup list and a [separate] league list.
"We have seven loans and so we have to make decisions. This is part of the reason why. He's still involved and I think maybe when I look to the next 15 games it could be he's helpful. He has trained, he's professional. All of my players have taken the situation.
"This is not normal, when I compare to my stations before, you have players who are disappointed and they show this. But my group is fantastic, it's outstanding what they are doing."
