New Juventus chief exec Francesco Calvo has rejected claims of cutting loose Paul Pogba.

With the summer signing yet to appear for the Bianconeri there has been talk of management offloading the Frenchman in frustration.

But Calvo says: "Rumours are rumours, we've heard them too, I categorically deny them.

"He was a very important purchase, for the long term.

"Then there can be unexpected events, there was a slowdown in his return to the pitch, he trains every day with enthusiasm and we look forward to him confident that he will make his contribution."
