Mono Burgos is ready to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
Diego Simeone's long time No2 has ambitions to be a head coach and feels 2020 is the right time to make the move.
Unlike Simeone and the remainder of the Atletico coach's staff, Burgos refused to extend his contract to 2022 last year. Instead, his current deal will expire in June.
Burgos and Simeone began their collaboration with Catania in January 2011.
They continued their relationship the few months they coached Racing de Avellaneda until they arrived at Atleti for Christmas 2011 to replace Gregorio Manzano.
