Mick McCarthy has left Blackpool after just 14 games in charge.
McCarthy departs after defeat to Cardiff City on Friday.
With six games remaining, Blackpool are seven points adrift of safety and have struggled for results recently.
Former Wolves boss McCarthy said: "After recent performances and results, I have thought long and hard and feel this is the best decision for everyone concerned with the football club.
"I've loved my time here and thank everyone for their support. I wish everyone well going forward."
Former Blackpool player Stephen Dobbie will be in charge of the club for the rest of the season and will be supported by assistants Matt Blinkhorn and Steve Banks
