Manchester City midfielder Matthew Smith says he's enjoying his loan with FC Twente.

Smith admits the challenge is helping his development.

He told Voetbalzone: "Given the results and the amount of playing time I get, I am convinced that this was the right choice. It means a lot to me that I play so much now and it helps me in my development, so I am very happy with the way this season goes.

"During one of my first conversations here I was told: 'We want to be champion and we want to go back to the Eredivisie'. So I knew immediately that that was what the club wanted and of course I want it myself. All players want that, just like the fans."
