Liverpool are considering asking Pep Lijnders if he wants to return to Anfield.
The former Reds academy coach only left Merseyside six months to try his chance at management with NEC Nijmegen. He was sacked on Thursday after failing to lead the club back to the Eredivisie.
And with Jurgen Klopp still undecided about his backroom staff after Zeljko Buvac's departure until the end of the season, there could be a spot open for Lijnders to fill.
Buvac, who left Liverpool on the eve of their Champions League semi-final against Roma, remains an employee of the club but it is unclear whether he will return to his role next season.
