Leganes have been blocked from signing a replacement for Martin Braithwaite.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) rejected Leganes' request to make a replacement signing for Braithwaite after his move to Barcelona.
Leganes insisted that they didn't have a say in the transaction due to Barcelona paying the Danish striker's minimum fee release clause.
The RFEF, upon receiving Leganes' request, forwarded it to FIFA, who denied such a possibility due to the fact that no club is allowed to make a transfer outside of the transfer window unless it is due to a long-term injury.
In a letter sent to the club, the RFEF reminded Los Pepineros that it was LaLiga that accepted the procedure of cancellation Braithwaite's file with Leganes and issuing a new one with Barcelona.
The RFEF also noted that allowing Leganes to make a signing in such circumstances would then have a knock-on effect of a succession of other signings which would damage the integrity of the competition.
