Josh Kennedy insists the timing is perfect for him to return to his home state of Victoria.
The Wodonga-born 32-year old striker has signed with A-League club Melbourne City after spending the past five years in Japan with Nagoya Grampus and is excited about getting back to the place where he kicked off his fruitful career.
"After a very long period abroad, the timing is right to join Melbourne City and I'm very excited about this project," he said after penning a two-season deal which will begin in January next year.
"It's a new chapter in my career, but my goal will be the same - to help my club achieve all of its aspirations. I believe Melbourne City has huge potential."
During his time with Nagoya, Kennedy has so far scored 68 goals in 147 appearances including the 2010 and 2011 J.League Golden Boot awards.
The former VfL Wolfsburg, Stuttgart Kickers, FC Cologne, Dynamo Dresden, FC Nurnberg and Karlsruher forward has also netted 17 times in 33 outings for the Australian national team.
