Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on the A-League ahead of his clubs visit down under later this year.
The Reds meet Melbourne Victory at the MCG on July 24 and Rodgers is looking forward to taking on a group of quality players in a league that is continuing to develop.
Rodgers admits he received some insight from Anfield great Robbie Fowler who recently had stints with the now-defunct North Queensland Fury as well as Perth Glory in Australia.
"I spoke to Robbie Fowler, and I've got friends who've been managers there," Rodgers said.
"The trail of British coaches that end up out there shows it's a league that's professional and improving all the time.
"They've got some technical, gifted players, the quality is at a very high level."
