Hull City are regarded as favourites for Dundee United fullback Andrew Robertson.
The Courier says the Tigers last night had a £1.75m plus add-ons bid turned down by United, following an offer from West Ham of £1.5m earlier in the day.
However, the Tigers are believed to have distanced themselves from reports of a bid as they keep their options open for other experienced defenders.
Even so, the Tigers could miss out on Robertson with a whole host of other top-flight clubs interested, including West Bromwich Albion, Everton and Southampton.
