Hearts fear season over for Man Utd fullback Mitchell

Manchester United fullback Demetri Mitchell has suffered a knee injury on-loan at Hearts.

The Daily Star says Mitchell returned to Old Trafford this week for a scan on a recurring problem that he first picked up against Ross County last month.

Hearts chief Craig Levein was optimistic that the promising defender would be back in the first-team fold for the Edinburgh derby on Friday.

However, he's now been informed by United bigwigs that Mitchell's injury is more serious than was first though.

It's expected he'll be on the treatment table for at least two months.

He will remain at the Premier League giants for the duration of his recovery.
