Hamann backing Liverpool move for Hannover keeper Zieler

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann admits he could see the club securing Ron-Robert Zieler in the summer.

The former Manchester United shot stopper is being touted as a backup for Alisson Becker in goal next season.

With second-choice Caoimhin Kelleher eager to leave for regular game time, the Reds want to sign an affordable player who would be happy to serve as backup next season.

Speaking to BestGamblingSites, Hamann said: "Zieler is playing for Hannover and he's a good goalkeeper.

“Whether he fits the bill for a number two remains to be seen because I think Liverpool were very, very lucky and fortunate to have a number two like Kelleher who I rate as a brilliant goalkeeper. I've got no doubt he'll be a very good number one for a good club next season.

"If Liverpool rate Zieler high enough to be their number two, then I can see that happening. Alisson Becker is hardly injured, so I think the opportunities for the number two at Liverpool in the last three or four years were very limited."
