Fiorentina coach Italiano on narrow Conference win against Twente: It's alive; a fantastic Euro debut

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano admitted frustration after victory in their Europa Conference League playoff first-leg against FC Twente.

Italiano admits the tie is alive after allowing the visitors to score for the 2-1 win.

He said, "I'm not a masochist, let's make things clear right away. There is no way of not continuing like in the first half, then unfortunately there are the opponents, who are in the fifth official match and not in the second.

"They threw high balls on the defensive line and did not let us to build, we did not create with quality as in the first half and we lowered the quality of the game.

"Unfortunately I have to put my heart in peace: here in Florence every shot on goal we suffer is a goal. I don't know if it was offside ... But we went from a fantastic first half to a normal second. We didn't need that goal, we didn't deserve to concede it, but the approach was fantastic and this result keeps the game alive and concentration.

"We'll play it next week.

"It's great to see this approach of the team, it was what we said. We went strong and we have to play for the playoff trying to finish at Twente. That's it, the European debut was fantastic and in the end the match was won."
