Former Manchester United winger Gyliano van Velzen has no regrets over his career choices.
Currently tied to Crawley Town, the Dutchman has spent this season on-loan with Aldershot.
“It can go in any direction," he told Voetbalzone.
"I am still very happy with the choices I have made and I really wouldn't have done it differently if I could do it over again.
“Look, you can't make it at Ajax and you can't make it at Manchester United and I think you can't make it better at Manchester United than at Ajax. So in that respect I'm still very happy.
"For example, look at other boys who went abroad at a young age, they will return to a PSV or FC Groningen. I would certainly recommend it to others. They need to know for themselves, of course, but if they asked my advice I would say they can just do it.
"I think you can go to a club at the highest level from Manchester United rather than from Ajax. Just look at a Karim Rekik, Javaîro Dilrosun who now plays at a big club (Hertha BSC), Daishawn Redan. From a United you can always go to such clubs, while I don't think you can go to a VfL Wolfsburg from Ajax or you name it. Then you should think about somewhat lower teams."
